A positive change in classroom behaviour and an increase in school attendance are some of the great outcomes resulting from the Boys to the Bush school programs.

Boys put down their pens for a day to connect with each other and the wider community through tours of local businesses, engaging in fun, hands-on activities and meeting the amazing people and places that exist right in their own backyards. Woven throughout these experiences is the fostering of resilience, building positive relationships and respect; for self, each other and community.

Up to ten students are selected by the school to participate in the program. These are a mix of boys; those who find it hard to engage, may ‘act out’, but also the quiet achievers and school leaders.

They are collected and returned to their schools under the supervision of the Boys to the Bush staff, participating in a full day of activities, one day per week for five weeks.

Our school programs run across all our locations, resulting in 690 students in 2023 being more connected to their community through tours of local business, engaging in activities to give back to the community or develop a skill.
